Having already forged a strong international following, Sin Cara, known for his high-flying style and awe-inspiring acrobatics, set his sights on reaching new heights of global success with WWE. The most popular luchador in Mexico became a welcome and huge acquisition by WWE, and debuted on Monday Night Raw the night after WrestleMania XXVII, April 4, 2011.
A second-generation performer, Sin Cara (whose name literally means “without face”) began in Mexico at the tender age of 15 and has never looked back. With his roots firmly bedded in the art of lucha libre, he exudes charisma, agility and a deep love and loyalty for his Mexican heritage. In WWE, the soaring Superstar birthed a new legacy, wowing viewers around the world with spectacular displays of agility and airborne attacks.
Sin Cara and fellow luchador Kalisto made history at NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way when they dethroned NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension, bringing to a close Konnor & Viktor’s nearly year-long title reign. The masked pair kept their momentum going at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution in December, overcoming the challenge of The Vaudevillains.
The Lucha Dragons’ reign came to a close in early 2015, however, when the young pairing of Wesley Blake & Buddy Murphy shocked the WWE Universe by defeating Kalisto & Sin Cara for the titles! During their title rematch at NXT TakeOver: Rival on Feb. 11, The Lucha Dragons lost again to Blake & Murphy on WWE Network.
The Lucha Dragons competed in the first-ever Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Tag Team Championships during WWE Elimination Chamber, as well as a Fatal 4-Way for the titles at SummerSlam. They also joined forces with Neville during the Night of Champions Kickoff, but came up short against Stardust & The Ascension.
No matter who his opponent may be, the gravity-defying Sin Cara is a true force to be reckoned with.
